GPS Proof of Delivery

Location and time recorded against the handover, not typed in afterwards.

A signature tells you someone accepted the vehicle. It does not tell you where or when. GPS proof of delivery adds that missing context by recording the location and timestamp at the point the record is completed on the device.

What GPS evidence adds

Where the handover happened

Useful when a customer queries whether a vehicle reached the agreed address.

When it happened

A recorded completion time rather than a time written down later from memory.

Corroboration

Location and time sit alongside the photographs and signature, so the record supports itself.

Fewer disputes about timing

Arrival and completion questions can be answered from the record instead of from recollection.

How TransportMate records it

When a driver completes a collection or delivery inspection, TransportMate captures the device location and the completion time against that record, and includes them in the proof document. Live job tracking is separate: while a movement is underway the office can see progress and keep the customer updated.

Location capture depends on the driver granting location permission on their device and on a usable position being available. Where a position cannot be obtained at the moment of completion, the rest of the record — inspection, photographs, damage and signature — is still captured in full.

GPS and privacy

Location is captured in the context of work: against job events and while a movement is in progress. Drivers are asked for permission on their device and can see what the app is doing. Our privacy policy sets out how the information is handled.

Frequently asked questions

Can POC/POD software record GPS?

Yes. TransportMate records the location and time at the point a collection or delivery record is completed, and includes them in the proof document.

What happens if there is no GPS signal?

The inspection, photographs, damage records and signature are still captured and saved. A location is recorded when a usable position is available.

Does GPS proof of delivery track drivers all the time?

No. Location is used in the context of jobs and active movements, and requires the driver to grant location permission on their device.
